This picture showing both Florida coasts, with Cape Canaveral readily visible in the centre, was taken by a camera fixed behind the nose of the Shuttle. The picture must have been taken soon after lift-off. The Space Shuttle, the world's first partially reusable launch vehicle, first flew on 12th April 1981 and has been used for all America's manned space missions ever since. The Kennedy Space Centre at Cape Canaveral has been the launch site for NASA’s manned spaceflight programme since 1962., 4835980
