Roberts was responsible for devising a number of improvements to Henry Maudslay’s screw-cutting lathe, and later designed improvements to Samuel Crompton’s original spinning mule. He built one of the first metal-planing machines, and in partnership with Thomas Sharp, manufactured railway locomotives., 6992514
