Photograph taken by James Jarche of the Daily Herald newspaper for a series of articles called 'In Search of Wales' written by H V Morton in 1934. The pictures included the first flash photographs taken underground, which involved a considerable risk of an explosion. The articles were later published together in a book of the same name., 6989849
