Caption Dairymen transporting dairy products to the stations in Wensleydale, 26 April 1927. The dairymen used the 'Cream Special' a four-wheel trolley to transport milk and dairy products on the railway. Wensleydale in North Yorkshire is a major centre for dairy production and he opening of a branch line from Northallerton enabled the dairy to improve their distribution. The Wensleydale Pure Milk Society was a local cooperative of dairy farmers founded in 1905, which opened a bottling plant in Northallerton next to the NER line. Photograph by H Household., 6967516
