Contemporary newspaper account: ‘Two messages of love span the 8, 000 miles that separate Britain from the Falkland Islands this Christmas Eve....They come from two Falklands children, Sarah Packer (5) and Carl Harris (6), who stand watch over flickering candles which will remember the 256 serviceman who died liberating the Falkland Islands so that they may grow up in freedom. The Christmas Cross of Honour will burn in St Mary’s Roman Catholic church in Port Stanley over Christmas. Carl Harris’ father Les, received the BEM for services to the community during the occupation.’, 6963080
