Caption This protective plate is made by Defence Clothing for use in all types of body armour to show the effect of ballistic testing. The plate is made from a layer of alumina backed with several layers of aramid fibres such as Kevlar or Twaron, and weighs less than a steel plate. It is inserted into a pocket in a flak jacket to provide extra protection to the heart. The inscription on the plate reads: 'Keep away from body, handle with care'., 6951278
