Art and light installation of a lighttower as part of the contemporary art festival Setouchi Triennale at Takamastu near the Naoshima Island at Seto Inland Sea in Japan. Since ancient times, people, goods and culiture have traveled the seas between Japan and Taiwan, with the sea servingas a human migration route. This project took as its motif the seed of a box fruit that had drifted from Taiwan and produced a Seed Ship about 9 meters in diameter. Artists and architects have transformed the Japanese island into a unique wonderland, a Naoshima Contemporary Art Museum, enlivening the landscape with sculptues and installations. The Setouchi Triennale is the art festival held on 12 islands and 2 ports in the picturesque setting of the Seto Inland Sea. The festival was set up in 2010 with the aim of revitalizing the Seto Inland Sea area, which has suffered from depopulation in recent years. The festival features over 150 artworks by artists from both Japan and overseas, many of whom make use of abandoned homes to host or even become their art installations. The Triennale lasts for eight months with three main sessions; the spring session runs from March to mid-April, the summer session runs from mid-July to early September, and the autumn session runs from October to early November. Setouchi Triennale est un festival international d'art contemporain qui se tient tous les trois ans dans certaines îles de la mer intérieure de Seto au Japon.
