What is FOTOFINDER?

FOTOFINDER is a picture portal and one of Europe's favourite independent online marketplaces for editorial and stock photography. You can find over 7 million images (Rights Managed and Royalty Free) from more than 250 independent sources (photographers and agencies) under one address. The subject matters range from editorial & feature to culture, fine art, food, nature & wildlife, travel photography and many others.

Which image resolutions are available?

Rights Managed (RM)
The images are available in two different resolution for print and online productions: LowRes (approx. 1000 px wide) and HiRes (DIN A5 – DIN A3, 300 dpi, approx. 25 – 39 MB). Higher resolutions or originals may be ordered directly from the photographer or agency. You can find the contact information of the provider in the preview.

Royalty Free (RF)
Every RF provider offers different resolutions (from web size to A3). You can find more information here.

How much does the use of FOTOFINDER cost?

Access to and research with FOTOFINDER is free, there are no subscription or membership fees. Furthermore we offer free layout files (600px longer side, without watermark) for registered customers. You can download them by clicking on the corresponding icon below a thumbnail, out of the preview or in the lightbox.

How much is the licence fee for one image?

All the images on FOTOFINDER are subject to copyright and to the licence agreement of the provider. Every use has to be paid. The licence fee is charged by the provider as well as the transfer of originals and costs for late cancellations (see Terms of Business).

Some agencies charge download fees. In that case, a notice informs you about it in the basket before you download the image.

How do I licence an image?

From the basket please use our usage request tool to licence an image. Just fill in the form with as much details as possible about the use of the image and send it to the provider. He will then come back to you and answer your request with a price and a download activation from the basket.

All the images you download stay for 30 days in the “Download Archive” area so you can check the licence and download the images again if needed.

What is the lightbox?

Your own images selection
With your FOTOFINDER account you can create lightboxes where you can copy images to create your own selection. Just click on the “lightbox” button under one image to copy it into one lightbox. You can create several lightboxes, give them new names and share them with other FOTOFINDER users or send them per e-mail.

Your editing tool
Use the lightbox to edit your choice of images. With click and drop you can change the order of the images. You can zoom in and out through the all selection and download free comp images.

Where do I find the contact information of the providers?

In the preview of every image there is a field “author” where you can find the contact information of the provider.

If you need a full listing of all the providers you can download a excel sheet from the Download Center (Service=›Download Center). The file is called “contact details” and can be downloaded once you‘re logged in.
